In this Division, the dancer is introduced to formal classical ballet instruction and classroom decorum. In accordance with the School Syllabus, as the dancer progresses through the age-appropriate classes in this Division, they study classical ballet technique continuing to develop a repertoire of classical steps, correct body alignment or aplomb, and musicality. Yearly advancement is based on Faculty Evaluations of the dancer’s physical body strength, technical ability, classroom effort, classroom etiquette, and attendance. In Elementary 3, the dancer begins to study 2 days per week in order to accelerate the acquisition of the classical technique. All classes feature live piano accompaniment. Placement Class is not required in this Division.
Classes meet on Monday and Wednesday from 4:30-5:30. Students should be 9-10 years of age.
