Young people ages 7 - 17 can learn how to code, develop websites, apps, programs, games and more every Saturday morning from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM.* Working with Scratch, kids learn the basics of coding language, syntax and logic. Concepts explored here lend themselves to all major coding principals and applications.
No experience is required and this course is entirely self-paced and fun! Kids under 13 must be accompanied by an adult who will learn right alongside them. Students should provide their own laptop computer or tablet. The library does have a limited number of laptops available for students to reserve ahead of time. To do so contact firstname.lastname@example.org and indicate the date you wish to attend.
*Please note that special events, holiday closures and other scheduling conflicts sometimes necessitate the cancellation of Kids Code Club. Tacoma Public Library's Digital Media Lab maintains an e-mail distribution list to inform patrons of these cancellations. To register for this distribution list send a request to email@example.com. Specify "Kids Code Club Distribution List" in the subject line.
